All About Healthy Fats

Healthy fats are important players on the body's team. They provide fuel for the day, surround & support key organs, combat inflammation, are part of cell structure & help absorb fat soluble vitamins like A, E, D & K. They also support the nervous system, skin, hair, nails, brain & eyes, hormones & immune function.

See why they're so important?!

The Standard American Diet, aka S.A.D., has too much Omega 6 & not the good way to get 6 either. Packaged foods, fried food, commercially raised meat, etc all contribute to a deficiency in Omega 3's.

I'm not talking bad fats here. I'm talking healthy fats from good sources. Balance is key even with healthy fats. Incorporate daily amounts of essential fatty acids the body needs by choosing quality sources. The top 3 ways are fish, raw nuts & seeds.

Optimal Healthy Fat Sources

~Always Pick ORGANIC & UNREFINED~

Good Quality Fish or Fish Oil (EPA & DHA) fish from clean water, free of heavy metals & toxins

Raw Nuts: Cashews, Hazelnuts, Macadamias, Almonds, Brazil Nut, Pecans

Flax & Chia Seed

Avocados

Raw Cheese

70% Dark Chocolate

Seaweed, Kale & Spinach

Lean Meat & Eggs from animals raised in their natural environment (avoid factory raised animal products)

Cold-Pressed Olive, Coconut, Pumpkin & Flax Seed Oil

Butter

UNHEALTHY FATS

The body needs healthy fats but there are way too may types of unhealthy ones on the market. Packaged food & wrapped food from a window are loaded :/

Avoid all hydrogenated, partially hydrogenated & refined oils. This includes: soybean, safflower, cottonseed & corn. Vegetable oil doesn't have a drop of anything vegetable in it- stay away from that stuff. Margarine falls in this same category so the little heart symbol on the package is a sad misplaced picture.

Did you know partially hydrogenated oils are nothing more than liquid fat that is injected with hydrogen gas! Refined oils are refined with dangerous chemicals! None of that has an ounce of health in it!

These unhealthy fats are the trouble makers. They are the artery cloggers, energy drainers, gut damagers, skin attackers, weight gainers & health robbers!!!! Kick 'em to the curb!

Always reach for organic, cold pressed unrefined oils. Cold pressed is a key word to look for :)

COOKING WITH FATS

The best oils for high heat cooking are:

~Organic, Unrefined Coconut Oil

~Organic, Cold-Pressed Unrefined Avocado Oil

Avoid heating olive oil. Anything beyond low heat will change the molecular structure making it toxic.

Save 1st Cold Pressed Organic Olive Oil for no heat cooking. It's great for salads, dressings & marinades!

Start today & include organic healthy fats in your daily diet!!!!!
